Carbon Emission
NEW TERMS
The concept of Carbon Credit came into existence as a result of increasing awareness in the need for pollution control. It was the result of the Koyoto Protocol. THE Protocol agreed 'caps' or quotes on the maximum amount of the greenhouse gases for developed and developing countries. Carbon Credits are certificates awarded to countries that successfully reduce the emmision that causes global warming.
CARBON CREDITS are measured in units of Certified Emission Reduuctions(CERs). Each CER is equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide reduction. India has emerged as a world leader in reduction of green house gases by addoping Clean Development Mechanisms (CDMs) in the past two years. The idea of Carbon Credit is to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emmisions or less "carbon intensitive" approaches than are used when there is no cost to emiting carbon dioxide and other Green House Gases into the atmosphere.
What is Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and particular climate change. It relates to the amount of gteenhouse gases produced in our daily lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation, etc. The carbon footprint is a measure of all green house gases in terms of tonnes (or kg) of CO2 equivalent.
What is a Green Test?
A green test to determine whether a product is efficient as possible in terms of energy consumption. The test terms of energy consumption. THE test focuses on certified prducts based on power effiency, power usage and management, heat dissapation, cooling requirment, energy efficiency, etc.
